School council is a fun and exciting opportunity for the children of Whitburn Village Primary School to have a voice in how their school is managed. The children are able to suggest ideas for different topics that arise throughout the year. The children’s thoughts are collected by their class appointed councillors and are fed back to the school’s senior leadership team during school council meetings. The class councillors are then given time to feed back to their classes what has been discussed and decided.

The children are learning a valuable lesson on what it is like to live in a democracy where everyone’s thoughts and opinions are valued.

Each year new class councillors are elected by the children and a half termly meeting will be held on a lunch time.
