Year 6 visited Nissan for an aspirational careers day. They learned about the benefits of becoming an engineer at a large company like Nissan. Throughout the day they took part in activities such as: learning Japanese; working on a production line; designing their own car; bolting rivets; taking out dents from car body work; speed tests; and a tour of the factory floor, where they programmed a robotic arm.
Before we went, the children took part in a competition to design the new Monozukuri Caravan logo. Scarlett won first prize, with Vanessa and Millie A coming runner up.
We had a great day and when we left, 18 of the children said they would consider a career in engineering!
