The children in Year 6 had a great day taking part in a ‘Play in a Day.’ They learned a lot about moving up to secondary school throughout, as their theme was: What was I worried about? They then performed the play to the whole school. We all really enjoyed it. As well as having some good messages about not worrying when changing classes or school; it was also very funny.
Whitburn Village Primary School were represented by children in nursery, year one. year three and year six in this year’s Whitburn’s Got Talent contest. The children were chosen through a vote after completing auditions in school. Although they didn’t win on the night, we think they are brilliant. Well done to all the children who shared their talents.
As part of Child Safety Week, Police Community Support Officer Mark Brown visited school to deliver an assembly to the children. During the assembly, he spoke to the children about stranger danger, road safety and keeping safe on bikes.
We had a lovely day celebrating the Royal Wedding. Nursery children enjoyed a garden party while Reception practised their folding and cutting skills to make bunting. Year One halved and quartered party food to enjoy during a street party and Year Two wrote Royal poems and designed wedding outfits. Year Three completed a special quiz and designed wedding dresses while Year Four made crowns or fascinators and enjoyed a Royal party. Year Five completed a special maths challenge involving decimal numbers and made bunting and flags for their Royal picnic. Year Six designed wedding gifts and had a special trip to the park to thank the children for their hard work and attitude during this busy week.
Whitburn Village Primary was invaded by book characters this week. We all enjoyed reading and sharing stories together. Thank you to everyone who helped with the costumes. We think the children looked amazing.
