Year Six had a fab day out for their leavers’ trip. They played bowling and had a delicious three course meal at Sambucas before finishing off in the park. They thoroughly deserved a treat after all their hard work this year.
The children in Year 6 had a great day taking part in a ‘Play in a Day.’ They learned a lot about moving up to secondary school throughout, as their theme was: What was I worried about? They then performed the play to the whole school. We all really enjoyed it. As well as having some good messages about not worrying when changing classes or school; it was also very funny.
As part of their Mayans topic, year six were lookin g at food discovered in ancient civilisation. Mrs Baker, from Fair Trade, came in to talk to the children about the history of chocolate, the production of chocolate today and the role of Fair Trade. We really enjoyed it because it had a strong link to or last geography topic, which was Brazil and the Amazon Rainforest. We learned a lot! Moreover, we enjoyed the chocolate sample even more!
Whitburn Village Primary School were represented by children in nursery, year one. year three and year six in this year’s Whitburn’s Got Talent contest. The children were chosen through a vote after completing auditions in school. Although they didn’t win on the night, we think they are brilliant. Well done to all the children who shared their talents.
