Year five visited the Openzone to film and produce our own movies about landmarks on the River Tyne. We learned how to use a range of different apps on the Ipads to create movies with us as the stars! We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and can’t wait to use our new movie-making skills to produce more great films.
Years five and six recently took part in ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ workshops. We learned all about what racism is and why we should respect the differences between people. As well as learning a lot, we also took part in a really fun sports session. The workshops were really useful and we’ve remembered to always consider the magic question – ‘How do I know?’.
Year 5 are incredibly lucky as this year we have a Book Penpal. Our penpal is Lorraine Gregory, author of ‘Mold and the Poison Plot’. Lorraine keeps in touch with us regularly and sends book recommendations, answers our questions about writing and even sent a copy of her book as a Christmas gift. We’re reading the book in class now and love what we’ve read so far. We’re looking forward to sending Lorraine our responses to her book.
We thought that you might enjoy looking at a selection of the photographs from this year’s residential trip to Thurston. It looks like everyone had an amazing time.
